World Lens#

World Lens is a live operator schematic of Ridgeport — neighbourhoods, residents, systems and activity in one view. This page covers how to read it and, more importantly, what it does not claim.

Before you start#

The service running. Open http://localhost:4287/lens.

What it shows#

A schematic arrangement of the world: which neighbourhoods exist, which residents and systems are associated with them, and what activity is currently recorded.

The view distinguishes derived truth from schematic truth explicitly. Derived values are folded from what actually happened in the world. Schematic values are arrangement — a way of drawing the world so it can be read.

What it does not claim#

Ridgeport has neighbourhoods and affiliations but no authoritative coordinates, no actor-presence model, no movement events, and no incident geometry.

That has three consequences worth stating plainly:

  • Position on the schematic is arrangement, not location.
  • A resident shown near a place is not present there.
  • Two residents drawn close together have no proximity relationship.

World Lens begins as a live schematic. It is not a map, and reading it as one will produce conclusions the world does not support.

Affiliations#

Affiliations are non-geographic. They describe membership — which institutions and groups a resident belongs to — and never imply presence or movement. This is the same rule that governs the Now surface; see Observing the world.

Trust edges#

Relational trust is shown as directed, dimensioned, evidenced edges folded from what actors actually did. An edge is a record of behaviour, not an assessment of character, and it has a direction: A trusting B is not B trusting A.

Operational scoring is labelled separately from relational trust and should not be read as the same measure. See Research runs.

Verify#

  • The lens loads and labels derived and schematic truth distinctly.
  • Activity shown in the lens corresponds to entries in the chronicle.

If it does not work#

Symptom Check Recovery
The lens is empty Whether the world has activity yet A newly resumed world may have little recorded activity
Positions change between loads Whether you are reading arrangement as location Expected — the schematic has no fixed geometry
An edge looks wrong The evidence attached to it Edges are folded from recorded actions; check the underlying events
